A Kids Book About Juneteenth

This book tells the true story of Emancipation and the Juneteenth Holiday, something I wasn't taught, and I bet you weren't either.

I'm also willing to bet that you thought that slavery ended when the Civil War was over, but that's not true.

"News had to be shared through newspapers or from person to person, by word of mouth."1

And so, it wasn't until June 19th, 1865 -- 2 months after the Civil War ended that "word" made finally made it to Galveston, TX - "the last place to learn that the war was over and Black people were free."1
